An awful train derailment has occured.

This is the awful news I woke up to this morning. According to reports, a few people (4 so far) have been confirmed dead while hundreds are injured.

Let's take a moment to say a prayer for the people involved.

Well, it didn't seem to take very long.
It appears that we might've found a child care facility.
I just happened to pay attention to this place that I've passed by on the way home from work so many times in the past. Lucy went to check it out after my suggestion and found it to be very satisfactory.

Poor kids, they're in for a 5-day-a-week shock to their system.

After informing my students they have a math test tomorrow, one boy says, "I think I'll come absent tomorrow."

Good news!
Lucy has tentatively gotten a job as a carrier with the US Postal Service. She's scheduled to begin orientation/training next week (Jan. 30th). So now it's time to look into child care.

Maybe now it will not be necessary for me to work summers.

One of my students told me his mom had to go to the hospital. Concerned, I asked him if she was alright. He answers in the affirmative, indicating she's having another baby.
Recalling he told me his dad's age, I asked him how old his mom is. "35," he tells me.

His father is 89 years old.

Can't believe it's been that many miles with my MINI Cooper, but, today I hit 49K.

Not bad for the little one.

This Friday night I again fly to Chicago for Mayra's 5th birthday. I'll be spending the weekend there and returning with Lucy and the kids next Tuesday.

That leaves me one more night to clean up around here. Gotta get rid of the empty beer bottles and wash the dishes.

Every year I look forward to attending the L.A. Auto Show. This year was no different.

Upon coming up to this Nomad, I had to snap a pic. The first car I ever wrecked was my dad's '58 Chevy Nomad station wagon.

Since I'm a devout MINIac, this convertible pleaded with me to photograph it.

If you can, try and get over to the Convention Center for the show.

It appears this rain is causing drivers to forget proper motoring. And now we apartment dwellers must put up with flooded walkways and driveways.

Orale, the Lotto is up to 68 mil for this Saturday's drawing. You know I'll be getting my usual $5 ticket.

Wish me luck!
