busy day today, let me tell you. i got up really early- around 6:15am chicago time! after a late breakfast (isadora woke up 3 hours later) and a little tv, we went in to the city to navy pier. we didn't leave there 'til around 8pm. here are a couple of pix i took while there.

it's almost 8:30 and i'm waiting for isadora and juan to show up so we can go to the airport. had my cup of coffee and pastry already. all i need is a newspaper to read on the plane. i'm getting anxious to see lucy and the kids.

went further inland today (along i210) to pasadena and it was hot! i wanted to get an ac adapter for my camera before leaving for mdw tomorrow. traffic was its usual mess. why bother posting 65mph limits if it's impossible during rush hour! (rush hour . . . now that's a laugh. someone needs to come up with a term for 3-hour blocks of time!) anyway, the heat was unbearable. although the other day that whittier blvd of cars sign read 93 degrees, today's 87 reading felt much hotter. and to think it'll be worse in chicago!


one of the first things i'm gonna do when i get to chitown is head over to portillo's for their chili dogs and fries. mmmm . . . can't wait.

orale pues, in two more days i'll be in chitown! yup, isadora and i leave lax around 10:45 (pacific) tuesday morning and will arrive at midway by a 1/4 to 5 (central) that afternoon. she'll only be there a week while i'll be gone about a month. (although i come here on the 11th and fly back with rachel on the 13th.)

this afternoon i went down to the irvine spectrum to finally watch star wars. i was pleasantly surprised at how crowded the theater was considering how long ago the movie's been out. and i also forgot to tell you that this past friday i went to the amc's and watched k19. out of both flicks, i was very entertained with attack of the clones.

didn't do much today on account of rachel being sick. poor mija. i wish i could take her pain away.

i just finished reading this article in the sun times about some punk-ass puta in cicero, il who ordered another gangbanger to shoot some kids that were just sitting on the front stoop of their house. it pisses me off how these perros get off so easily. with a stroke of luck, he'll get rammed and forced to give bj's every day in the pinta.

lucy is already in illinois with the kids. i'm here until this coming tuesday just in case an opening comes up in the district. it feels weird staying here alone.


well not alone all day. albert came over this afternoon. he didn't know that his little brother and sister had left yesterday. anyway, he bought a new truck. it's nice! we went to tower records where i bought a couple of cds.


earlier i had gone to the apple store at south coast plaza so i could get a case for my ipod. from there i went upstairs to sports chalet for some travel gear.

i'm still trying to find the software disks to reinstall my favorite applications. so far i've loaded up soundjam and toast. i'm still looking for my photoshop cd so i can upload and edit some pics.

my ibook took a major dump this week. and i mean major! lost everything. had to reinstall everything from scratch.


on top of this, some asshole(s) stole my credit card number/expiration date. good thing the bank caught it though. now i gotta wait 'til the end of the week to receive my new card.

so far i've interviewed at two schools, both for kindergarden positions. i was not chosen for either site. with no experience in kinder, that's made it difficult. unless something else comes up, i'll be back at my usual school.

finally've been able to get back online today! earthlink dsl customers here in socal apparently had problems these last few days, those of us with the misfortune of being hooked up with verizon that is.

do you remember that plane crash on 4th of july over in san dimas? we all saw it on all the news channels. well here an article about an affected family suffering still (in more ways than one).

we had to get away from the heat today. i'm sure you can come up with ideas: the mall, a movie theater, the beach. it was the beach! yup, we trekked off to belmont shore this afternoon. i chose it on account of it being one of the least crowded.

yesterday we beat the heat by going for a swim here in the pool.

i want a new car! i've wanted one since last summer. due to the fact that a major chunk of my savings went for our trip to chicago, i bought an ibook instead.


again we're going to chitown this summer. that, combined with an unexpected expense a few months ago, is hindering my chances of buying a new car.
